In 1942 Italo Saleri founded the factory and started the production of motorcycles parts, bronze bushings and batteries clamps. Ten years later, in 1952, Mr. Saleri had already managed to establish partnerships with important car manufacturers for the production of engine parts. In those years the company’s name became Saleri Italo & C. snc, and Mr. Francesco and Mr. Sergio Saleri, Italo’s sons and current owners of the company, took up with the management of the firm.

In 1954 Saleri SIL started with the production of water pumps for the after market, though in a still limited range: the first pumps to be produced were designed for Opel Record A, Opel Kadett, Ford Taunus 15/17M, Renault R4, Fiat 1100 and Mini Minor. In the 70ies water pumps for the after market already made up for the whole Saleri SIL production, and could enter the Italian and European market boasting a wide range of products. In the 80ies the company has starting cooperating with leading car and engine manufacturers in the OEM/OES sectors.
